Nature play / Nature play update
Tuesday, 22 October 2019 .
As some of you may have noticed, the beautiful straw bale maze installed by local business Makin Trax Australia was vandalised a few days ago. This new addition to our nature play area next to Sullivan’s Creek in Haig Park had already been warmly welcomed by scores of children and families since its installation.
As disheartening as this may be, it's part and parcel of the Haig Park Experiments. A big thank you to everyone who has contacted us with ideas to repurpose the spare straw.

We now invite the community, and particularly those who would greatly benefit from the straw, to come and collect as much as you would like from this Saturday 26 October onwards. Some great ideas from the community have included recycling the straw as livestock feed, garden mulch, and scarecrow stuffing. Don’t forget to bring your own bags to collect it!

We’re also happy to announce that the remaining intact straw bales will be rebuilt into a smaller fort by Makin Trax for children and families to once again enjoy.
Let’s continue to look out for each other and the park to keep our city’s backyard welcome for all to use.
